How to Play a Guitar – Free Tips
If you want to learn how to play a guitar then you need to read on. With an instrument such as the guitar it is tempting to just get started straightaway. It is best if you can start with an instrument such as an acoustic guitar as you can transfer all your skills from playing the acoustic to other types of guitar.
Firstly, even though you may be left handed, it is advised to start playing the guitar with your right hand first- if you are left handed this will benefit you later on once your skills have fully developed. Playing the guitar can be a complex affair and you will need to be able to use both hands to play it accurately in the future.
While learning to play with the acoustic guitar it is good to practice using strumming techniques. Use your right hand to do this, meanwhile you can focus on learning and playing the chord shapes with your left hand. Before starting to pluck with the guitar, it is recommended that you master at least 15 chords; then you can start concentrating on playing a solo lead guitar.
Playing a six string guitar is a difficult task and some people do not learn the full chords preferring just to use 3 or 4 strings. This is okay, but a six string version sounds a lot better and once mastered will be an asset for the rest of your guitar playing days. Once you have learnt the six strings, you can then decide which sections of the chord you are going to play.
Once you are able to do all of the basics and feel confident on an acoustic guitar, you can then spread you wings and try your hand at other types of guitar.
Remember that playing the guitar will take a lot of time and practice, but the motivation and enthusiasm will be enough to keep you playing. Use the above tips to help with the process too.
